Thanks to our proprietary coating technology, which applies a coating to all wound and plain strings—all of which feature a high-carbon steel core—we have achieved an unprecedented level of durability. These strings boast superior performance in terms of strength, pitch stability, and corrosion resistance, surpassing that of any previously available coated strings. All strings, including the plain strings, are coated with a micro-polymer coating. Due to design changes by the manufacturer, the appearance, color, specifications, and other details are subject to change without notice. D’Addario has been working to develop long-lasting strings that combine the natural tone and playing feel of uncoated strings—which were once considered difficult to achieve—by integrating its proprietary, cutting-edge coating technology with materials such as NYSteel and innovative features like Fusion Twists.

The XT series utilizes proprietary coating technology to apply a coating to all wound and plain strings featuring a high-carbon steel core, achieving an unprecedented level of durability. The result is a string that boasts superior performance in strength, pitch stability, and corrosion resistance—qualities never before seen in coated strings.

● Outstanding Pitch Stability Tuning stability has improved by 131% compared to conventional strings.

● Increased Strength During Picking Strength tests show a maximum increase of 42% in strength, making the strings much less prone to breaking.

The XT Series’ new coating technology utilizes a unique, innovative process that allows for the application of an extremely thin micro-polymer coating to all types of strings. In corrosion tests, we succeeded in achieving higher corrosion resistance even compared to our previous coated EXP series strings. Despite offering a longer lifespan and greater corrosion resistance, the result is a string with a natural sound and feel—just like an uncoated string. Furthermore, this micro-polymer coating is applied to all strings, including the plain strings.

While the EXP Series outsourced the coating process for the wire material to an external technology company, the XT Series features its own new in-house coating facility located within the same building. This allows us to complete the entire manufacturing process within our own facilities, enabling us to coat the freshly produced wire material in optimal condition without the need for unnecessary transportation or packaging, as was the case previously.
