Age of Empires: Imperium Classic and Age of Empires: Imperium Legends are fully compatible and can be played individually, but playing them together will further expand your civilization arsenal.
Age of Empires: Imperium Legends includes five historical civilizations and three legendary/fictional civilizations: Egypt, Maurya, Minoan, Olmec, Qin, Arthurian Legend, Utopia, and Atlantis.
Each player receives their own civilization's deck and plays the game.
On their turn, they can "Act" an action, "Innovate" by discarding their entire hand,
or "Revolt" by sending unrest cards from their hand to the unrest pile, and then "Consolidate" by replenishing their hand.
Cards have various effects, such as gaining resources, putting cards into play, gaining cards from the common market,
receiving unrest cards from the unrest pile in exchange for an effect, or affecting other players' cards.
Players use the abilities of these cards to develop and civilize their empire,
and the game ends when the final condition is met or the civilization "collapses."
If the condition is met and the game ends with "scores," the cards that the empire has carved into its history up to that point become the source of points.
On the other hand, if the game ends with "collapse," the player wins because they have the fewest Unrest cards.
Each civilization has completely different card contents, so their strategies and paths to victory are unique.
Themed around the growth and decline of civilizations, this card game involves creating situations in which card abilities can be put to use, deck building, and resource and hand management.
