Upon its US release, it topped the box office charts, beating out the Marvel film "Madame Web," which was released on the same day.
Just as Freddie Mercury was brought to life on the big screen with astonishing realism in "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Presley in "Elvis,"
in 2024, the "God of Reggae" descends 43 years after his death!
■The world calls for him again—
This 107-minute film depicts the turbulent life of legendary artist Bob Marley, who passed away at the age of 36.
Bob Marley is Jamaica's national hero and a top artist who has sold 75 million albums worldwide.
This film opens with the attempted assassination of Bob Marley by gangsters in 1976, and depicts his turbulent life, from the making of his 1977 masterpiece "Exodus," later described by Time magazine as "the greatest music album of the 20th century," to the realization of the 1978 "One Love Peace Concert," in which the leaders of two opposing political parties shook hands on stage.
With the full cooperation of the Marley family, this film brings to life the true image of this great pioneer with thorough research and a presence that goes beyond acting.
Bob's wife Rita Marley, son Ziggy, and daughter Cedella served as producers, and Ziggy's brother Stephen Marley participated in the production as musical director.
The Wailers' bassist, Aston "Familyman" Barrett, and guitarist, Junior Murvin, are played by their sons.
The film is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who won Will Smith the Academy Award for Best Actor for "The Man Who Loved Bob."
From his patois (Jamaican English) to his stage presence, lead actor Kingsley Ben-Adir embodies Bob's spirit, and Lashana Lynch, who plays his beloved wife, Rita, delivers a stunning performance.
■"One Love," "No Woman No Cry"... Songs of love and hope that shine throughout music history convey messages in times of chaos and division.
"Get Up, Stand Up," "I Shot the Sheriff," "War," "So Jah Seh," "Exodus," "Jamming," "Redemption Song," and many other songs filled with prayers for peace—their voices continue to resonate around the world today.
