Yamamoto Shugoro's prewar historical novels are not as plentiful as his detective novels. Even so, works published in the widely scattered "Kodan Zasshi" and boys' magazines, as well as less well-known and less well-known magazines and specialist journals, remain buried.

This volume features a selection of Shugoro's most rare prewar historical novels, not included in either the "Yamamoto Shugoro Detective Novels Complete Collection" or the "Shugoro Children's Library." Many of these works have never been published in book form, including the original publications of works that are widely used as the originals, and conversely, the original publications of works that are widely used as the originals.
