Shigaraki ware is pottery made in Shigaraki Town, a mountain village in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. It is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns and boasts a history spanning over 1,200 years.
It was designated a traditional craft by the national government in 1976 (Showa 51).
The term "Hechimon" (registered trademark) comes from a Shigaraki artisan's term meaning "unusual objects."
Due to the handmade nature of the product, slight variations in size, color, and pattern may occur.
This flower vase, "Hanakiraku," is perfect for everyday wear. Combining the distinctive earthenware of Shigaraki with a simple design, this piece allows for both traditional and modern presentations. Its natural feel blends seamlessly into your living room or dining room, and its size makes it easy to use with inexpensive flowers or garden plants. Use it as you would everyday wear, and let it become a part of your everyday life.
