Electro-Harmonix ABOUT Electro-Harmonix
Electro-Harmonix was founded by Mike Matthews in October 1968. Their first product was a fuzz pedal called the "Axis Fuzztone." Later, they collaborated with Bob Meyer, a former Nobel Prize-winning engineer at Bell Labs, to create the original linear power booster, the "LPB-1." Despite being available only through mail order, this model became a huge hit, helping to establish the Electro-Harmonix brand. This was followed by the release of the legendary "Big Muff" in late 1969, and in the 1970s, they released a string of still-popular models, including the Small Stone and Memory Man, which enjoyed strong sales. Despite the company's success in the 1970s, the company faced labor union and parts supply issues in the 1980s, resulting in bankruptcy in 1984. Mike Matthews then traveled to the former Soviet Union and founded a new company, New Sensor Corp., in 1988. Under the "Sovtec" brand, the company produced a succession of products, including vacuum tubes, effects, and amplifiers, and made a comeback as a comprehensive music equipment manufacturer. In 1991, it regained the Electro-Harmonix trademark it had once lost. In 2002, it returned to its New York base and continues to deliver distinctive effects to players around the world.
A new analog delay that inherits the tone of a classic. Starting with the original Memory Man in the early 1970s, Electro-Harmonix has created legendary analog delays, including the Deluxe Memory Man, beloved by countless top players. The "Memory Boy" is a new analog delay that inherits the warm, natural analog tone of those classics. Over two years in development, it features modulation functions for exceptional character and artistic tones. With a maximum delay time of 550 ms, the delay time or modulation rate can be controlled with an expression pedal, allowing for real-time effect manipulation on stage. Despite its compact size, this versatile analog delay unit boasts features that rival those of higher-end models. Experience its versatility with this versatile unit. Select the modulation waveform with the switch. Use the control knob to create unique sounds.
■ DELAY: Adjusts the delay time. Delay times range from 30ms to 550ms. Turning the DELAY knob while the echo is being output changes the pitch.
■ DEPTH: Adjusts the modulation amount. Turning the DEPTH knob all the way counterclockwise turns off modulation.
■ BLEND: Adjusts the mix balance between direct and delayed sounds (effect sound 0% to 100%).
■ FEEDBACK: Adjusts the amount of signal returned from the delay block output to the input. Turning the FEEDBACK knob up increases the number of echo repeats, and depending on the setting, can even oscillate. Shortening the delay time and increasing the feedback can produce a reverb-like effect.
■ TRIANGLE/SQUARE Switch: Selects the analog modulation waveform. At lower DEPTH settings, the difference in effect is smaller. Selecting TRIANGLE produces smooth, chorus-like modulation, while selecting SQUARE jumps between two delay times, creating a pitch-shifting effect.
■CHORUS/EXP. PEDAL/VIBRATO Switch: Selects the modulation rate and the parameter controlled by the expression pedal. Connect an EXP. PEDAL for control. The "EXP. PEDAL" provides a wide range of control.
Connect an expression pedal to the [EXP. PEDAL] jack to control the delay time or modulation rate. The [CHORUS/EXP. PEDAL/VIBRATO] switch determines the parameter controlled by the expression pedal. When this switch is set to [CHORUS] or [VIBRATO], it controls the delay time. In this case, the delay time set by the [DELAY] knob is the longest delay time controlled by the pedal. When set to [EXP. PEDAL], it controls the modulation rate. When nothing is plugged into the [EXP. PEDAL] jack, the modulation rates are [CHORUS = slow, EXP. PEDAL = medium, VIBRATO = fast].
