Italeri Plastic Model Fighter Aircraft, U.S. Air Force SR-71 1/72 Blackbird, Lockheed
The SR-71 Blackbird was an American reconnaissance aircraft that served with the U.S. Air Force from the 1960s to the 1990s. Designed by Lockheed Martin, it was one of the fastest aircraft in the world. Its top speed exceeded Mach 3 (over 3,700 km/h) and maximum operating altitude of 26 km made it difficult for anti-missile defense systems to shoot it down. The SR-71's advanced titanium design allowed it to withstand the extreme temperatures generated during supersonic flight. It was primarily used for intelligence gathering, and its ability to escape enemy missiles was a legendary asset.
