Embroidered seasonal landscapes
EMBROIDERER'S YEAR
A collection of embroidery works by world-renowned textile artist Helen M. Stevens.
This is a collection of adorable embroidery works with over 80 designs, inspired by the changing seasons. Each month is divided into different motifs, with trees, flowers, and small animals such as squirrels and birds. This book is fascinating, with a picture book-like world woven with delicate stitches. Although there are no patterns, this is a wonderful collection of embroidery works.
After actually embroidering, I think that even if you have a pattern, it is difficult to embroider beautiful works without artistic sense,
The great thing about this book is that it contains the author's preliminary sketches, which I think is very rare for an embroidery book. She leaves notes on which parts of the preliminary sketch are the key points of the embroidery, for example, whether the paintbrush was drawn from top to bottom or the other way around, and by using these as a reference, you can recreate realistic patterns in embroidery.
