Functional action:
L-Carnosine is an organic compound consisting of two amino acids, beta-alanine and histidine. It is synthesized in skeletal muscles, heart, brain, lenses of eyes, kidneys and skin. The maximum amount of carnosine is concentrated in the muscles. With age, the production of L-Carnosine decreases, which leads to aging of the body.
L-Carnosine is one of the most effective antioxidants, as it protects cells from oxidation, neutralizing not only reactive oxygen species, but also lipid peroxidation products and other aggressive compounds. And if you take into account that active forms of oxygen are formed in the body in large quantities every day, then the role of carnosine in anti-aging is clear.
L-Carnosine serves as a kind of "trap" for glucose, protecting proteins from oxidation by glucose (glycosylation). The most susceptible to such oxidation are NO-synthase enzymes of the vascular endothelium, which are necessary for the formation of nitric oxide from citrulline and arginine. Failure of these enzymes leads to hypertension and erectile dysfunction. Collagen is also oxidized, as a result of which blood vessels become fragile, and the skin becomes covered with wrinkles. Oxidation processes in the lens cause cataracts, and in brain cells - degenerative diseases and memory disorders.
Increases the sensitivity of tissues to insulin, thereby reducing the level of sugar and insulin in the blood.
It has a neuroprotective effect. Reduces the activity of the monoamine oxidase-A enzyme (which breaks down the neurotransmitters serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine), improving brain function and reducing anxiety and depression.
It is an effective factor that enhances microcirculation and tissue blood supply.
Acts as an acid buffer in the body. It is in the cells and comes out of them in response to a drop in pH. L-Carnosine protects the body from acidification by binding hydrogen ions. It neutralizes lactic acid and reactive oxygen species that accumulate in muscles during heavy physical exertion. It is because of their accumulation that the muscles get tired and cannot contract. As a result of the neutralization of these substances, performance returns, fatigue passes, and muscles are not damaged. L-Carnosine binds and removes heavy metals (lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium) from the body.
Increases the resistance of erythrocytes to the action of hemolyzing factors.
Neutralizes pathogenic proteins produced in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, protecting the brain from damage. It is a brain stimulator.
Has a rejuvenating effect and fights aging.
In experimental conditions, L-Carnosine can reduce cortisol levels in response to stress.
Increases the amount of muscle mass and decreases the amount of fat mass.
Indications for use:
Cardiovascular diseases - hypertension, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, prevention of stroke or heart attack obliterating endoarteritis of the lower extremities.
Diseases of the nervous system and brain - neuroses, depression, impaired cerebral circulation, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, autism.
Chronically elevated cortisol levels.
Diseases of the organs of vision - cataract, glaucoma, retinopathy.
Sensorineural deafness.
