A Mecanum wheel (also known as an omni wheel or iron wheel) is a special type of wheel in which barrels mounted at a 45° angle on the circumference of the wheel rotate freely. By controlling the rotation of each motor, it is possible to move in all directions without changing the orientation of the vehicle.
Because each wheel moves in a specific direction, this robot car can move in all directions—forward, backward, left, right, and diagonally (at a 45° angle)—without changing the orientation of the vehicle, allowing it to easily navigate any terrain. These wheels are particularly useful on sharp curves and narrow roads.
